Fashionable Fairy Tales

Fairy Tale Fashions is a domain where you read a story, then you read another story, and then you pick one of the stories to make costumes related to the story. They make magical and mystical costumes using some fabrics from sewing and knitting and some fake flowers. All kinds of fabrics from sewing are used in Fairy Tale Fashions. I saw mostly pink and gold fabrics.

At the end of Fairy Tale Fashions they’ll have a fashion show where they model the costumes. Christi teaches Fairy Tale Fashions and it’s held in the Art Barn.

Anna Attempts Fly Fishing

One day about 60 kids went down to a basketball court to choose their domains.* And we had three different groups that chose domains at three different times. And of course, I got third pick. I’ll be honest I wasn’t planning on choosing fly fishing, but I did.

Looking at fly fishing it looks pretty much like regular fishing but fly fishing is so much more. It’s a whole art.

First, it is called fly fishing because the fly is your “bait” at the end of your fishing line. A fly is almost like a toy made to look like an animal. It is usually made of real furs and new materials like foam. Another thing that makes it different from regular fishing is that instead of the bait carrying the line the line carries the bait so the line is heavier than normal fishing line.

Although I was only able to take the class once for an hour and 15 minutes, I was intrigued and interested. I  know that if the domain was ever being offered here at BEAM I would be sure to take the class.
